Talavera Turtle
Sometime during the 16th century, potters from the Spanish city of Talavera de la Reina arrived in Puebla, Mexico, and began crafting distinctive majolica earthenware. Today authentic Talavera is still made in Puebla using centuries-old techniques. Each piece is made by hand in a process that takes 4–6 weeks to complete. Talavera can be grand, and it can also be playful, like this colorful turtle. Note the bright red "lips" and toenails. 12" long, 6" tall, she's a delightful accent for your home or garden. Please bring her indoors for the winter.
